Lughnasadh: Celebration of the First Harvest
A Ritual for
the Solitary Practitioner
by Boudica ©2004
Pagans and
food – a winning combination. We love to
eat and we love any celebration that involves food. In the Wheel
of the Year, we have three Harvest Festivals:
Lughnasadh, Mabon and Samhain. The
best known is the Samhain, as it is also our New Year as well as our celebration
of our Ancestors and those who have passed over to the Summerland. On this holiday we usually have large
celebrations with friends and family.
But the
celebration of Lughnasadh is a small and quiet celebration of one of the smaller
turns of the Wheel of the Year. This
holiday celebrates the harvesting of the grains and the berries.
OK, so what
does this mean to me?
As pagans,
witches, or those who are of the earth based spiritualities, we strive to tune
our bodies to the cycles of the Earth and the universe.

Midsummer Ritual
by Boudica
The Wheel of the year turns again and we arrive
at Summer Solstice. This is a magical time of the year, with long,
hot days and warm, short nights.
Midsummer is the perfect time to hold ritual out
of doors. I would like to offer you a ritual that can be done by a
single person (or maybe two), out of doors in a public place. Often
Solitaries would like to perform ritual out of doors but feel
embarrassed or are afraid of what others might think. If we perform
our ritual in its purest form, with our minds and by pure thought, no
one will need know or think anything.

A Full Moon/Yule Ritual For
the Solitary/Semi-Solitary
by Boudica
This ritual is intended for the Solitary. It is a private worship
ritual, and is written so you can apply your own personal Spiritual
Path to this.
Though I love the out-of-doors and would hope we could all do this
under this special "Full long night moon", location and/or
weather may dictate an indoor ritual. I have made this so it can be
done anywhere, by as little as one or one and a special friend or
two, with as few extra necessities as possible.
